Highfield Highlights February 2025
Highfield has had a very special start to the New Year celebrating our very first centenarian, Norma Steel! It was wonderful to see the village come to together to celebrate such an incredible milestone of 100 years!
Norma was surrounded by her beautiful family, friends, residents, the Highfield Directors and staff. Norma was presented with a stunning bouquet of flowers, a key to the village and she received heartfelt and loving messages from all those in attendance. Norma’s grandson Andrew had flown from England to be with her, giving a beautiful heartfelt speech in her honor. Everyone learnt about Norma’s life from son Gary, giving another wonderful speech. This was followed by Bobbie Fladgate who spoke about Norma’s time in the village, not forgetting Norma’s famous shortbread. It was then time to sing happy birthday with the cutting of the cake. Everyone then raised their glass to toast Norma and her 100th Birthday! A delightful morning tea ensued.
Everyone helped to make this day so special, and we would like to acknowledge and thank all those who contributed with their time, knowledge and expertise. What was truly evident was the camaraderie, care and community spirit that made it a truly special day for Norma and the Highfield community.
Norma, we sincerely cannot believe that you are 100, it was best summed up with the following: “we think you are 75 years old with 25 years’ experience”. Thank you, Norma you are a true inspiration to us all!
We hope you all enjoy the month of February!
